Australia Themed Decorated Letter

I have to admit that the decorated letters that have recently joined the range at JMJC are one of my favourite projects to do. There is so much variety with each letter - colour, theme and all of the finishing touches. Although they appear quite simple choosing the best stickers and ribbon, charms and extras to go onto the letter and when it's time to stop before it becomes too busy can be quite challenging. But my favourite part of all is knowing that when it's finished it's ready to go to a home where it will be on display and enjoyed by many.

With Australia Day coming up soon, I recently created this Australia Themed letter. I have a little help from my Son as he sat there are handed me glue and stickers. I really enjoyed putting this one together!

Weeding!

Saturday for me would normally be a family day out. We take our son to his swimming lessons and take a bit of time to wander the shops. So soon after Christmas though, today we decided to spare the wallet and skip the shops.

With the weather not being quite as warm as expected I decided to get stuck into the weeding. This decision wasn't born from any want to do this chore, but rather the need to fulfil my responsibilities under the Tenancy Agreement.

As a pulled weeds and pruned bushes I wondered about a lot of things. How long until I would be done, if the rags I were wearing were too ill-fitting, faded and torn even for gardening, if the neighbours were watching me getting delight out of seeing that I clearly have no idea what is a weed and what is a plant (my theory is if it's ugly it goes, either a weed or plant either way it shouldn't be there) and most importantly - if we stopped discriminating and didn't label any plant 'weeds' there would be no need for me to be spending my Saturday miserably unhappy.

Are there honestly some Gardeners out there that enjoy weeding? I fail to see the enjoyment or satisfaction that comes from weeding. The job entails bending and pulling resulting in aches and pains. It means spending time in the unforgiving sun getting hot, itchy and uncomfortable. There is the fear of spiders biting and bees stinging. Definitely not my idea of a good time.

So, after just an hour when it was too hot to keep going, my patience had run out and more importantly room in the green waste bin, I headed inside with the knowledge that in a few weeks, there they will be again, the plants that we label as 'weeds' and decide they aren't good enough to keep.
